African Cape Reed Thatch Palapa/Tiki Hut Round Roofing Cap
w/ties - 34 Inch Diameter Round.
The item is made from natural African Cape Reed
materials (Thamnochortus Insignis) and is combined to form this round roof cap.
This item is made to be waterproof and has a layer of black plastic between the
layers of reeds. The reeds are formed into this cone shape using a brown UV
resistant rubbery compound. On the bottom side you will find 2 plastic twine
ties to help connect it to an open beam roof or umbrella frame. This product is
manufactured in South Africa. This top roof cap is usually installed alongside
African Reed thatch roofing panels. African Reed is a great insulator compared
to more modern roofing materials and is said to be 10+ degrees cooler
underneath. It can last upwards of 8-10 years outdoors depending on the
climate. New African Reed is a beautiful color as our pictures show and over
time will weather to a pleasant light gray. African Reed works with many
styles, themes, and designs. Some of these include tropical, Hawaiian, island,
tiki, beach, nautical, primitive, Mexican, vacation and many more. African reed
is a great covering for tiki huts, palapas, gazebos, umbrellas, cabanas, garden
structures, tree houses, play structures, chiringuitos, chickee huts and more.
This material can be found all around the world at amusement parks, resorts,
beaches, restaurants, productions, backyards, fairs, stores, parks etc. The
roof cap is very rigid and can withstand high winds if attached securely. The
cones are made from mature Cape Reeds that have been growing for 5-7 years and
so have a strong fully developed fiber core for maximum strength and
durability. Cape Reed is a great sustainable renewable resource. Enjoy the
beauty of natural African Cape Reed thatch for your next project.
